Toy Factory Productions present "Kim Van Kieu - A Theater Concert," a reimagining of Nguyen Du's epic poem, "Tale of Kieu." The story follows the talented Thúy Kiều who endures strife after sacrificing herself for her father’s ransom.
This joint production by Singaporean and Thai artists is the latest project under plotSEA—Toy Factory Productions' inter-regional artist-initiative program that champions collaboration beyond borders.
Brought to life by Southeast Asia’s finest theatre-makers, The Tale of Kieu explores the social and political contours of feminism by tracking an Asian woman’s journey as she fights against oppressive patriarchal systems.
Set against Chiang Dao’s breathtaking mountain landscapes, this immersive presentation blends familiar Southeast Asian melodies with new experimental musical compositions, creating a lush, distinctive soundscape that pays tribute to regional traditions while pushing creative boundaries.
